Shehnaz Khan

Dr Shehnaz Khan holds a master’s degree in Global Health from Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland. During her master’s, she was selected for a prestigious research placement project with Orbis International, further enriching her academic experience.

She practiced dentistry in Coimbatore and Bengaluru for over three years and led an oral health outreach initiative at Universal Elder Care Centre, Coimbatore.

She has recently contributed to an editorial in the Journal of Medical Evidence, highlighting the Universal Health Coverage model in India and shedding light on its key principles, challenges, and the way forward for equitable access to healthcare.

Shehnaz’s research interests lie in public health, with a focus on reducing oral health inequalities and improving access to care through community-based interventions. She is particularly interested in applying systems thinking to optimize the design and implementation of oral health interventions while incorporating behavioural theories to enhance effectiveness.

Shehnaz currently works as a Research Associate at the Public Health Foundation of India. She will be working with Professor Manu Mathur to deliver the CORE programme in India.
