Carolina Pazos

Dr Carolina Thaiza Costa Pazos holds a degree in Dentistry from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) (2012). Since that time, she has been engaged in extension projects, research, and tutoring. She is a specialist in Paediatric Dentistry through the residency programme at the Professor Fernando Figueira Integral Medicine Institute (IMIP) / Pernambuco State Health Secretariat (2015). She completed her Master’s degree (2017) and her PhD (2024) in Child and Adolescent Health at UFPE, conducting research and providing academic guidance in the area of morbidity and mortality among children and adolescents; the construction and validation of instruments; and the planning, management, and evaluation of health services. In this research area, she participated in the Health Services Evaluation Group at IMIP and served as the technical research coordinator under a Letter of Agreement between IMIP and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). She has experience in both private and public institutions, in both the healthcare and teaching sectors at the technical and higher education levels.
Her research interests include: oral health; child and adolescent health; public health; the construction and validation of instruments; the planning, management, and evaluation of health services; and the oral health of globally vulnerable and marginalised communities.
Carolina is responsible for developing work package three research activities and community engagement and involvement within the CORE Programme in Brazil.
